"Colucci's Ristorante, a family-run Italian restaurant located in Haledon, NJ - for over 25 years.

Joe Colucci, who was there at the restaurant's start, currently works in the dining room and bar. It is currently run by Monica Colucci and Carl Massanova.

"Our food is moderately priced and abundant. We provide a good time in a pleasant, casual atmosphere," says Joe Colucci.

Joe took me on a tour of the expansive menu. It begins with 18 appetizers, including antipasto, clams, artichoke hearts oreganato, mussels and stuffed mushrooms. Next is salad, with arugula, calamari, seafood and spinach salad among the taste-pleasers.

Then it's on to pasta, with 19 varieties topped by fusilli, homemade gnocchi, spinach and meat ravioli, tortellini marinara, cavatelli with broccoli, angel hair with meat sauce, linguine, manicotti, penne arrabiata, which is penne pasta in cherry pepper spicy tomato sauce with onion and garlic, linguine ala marinaresca, which is a house specialty with mushrooms, crushed green and black olives, roasted peppers, capers, pepperoncini, peppers with a hint of anchovy in garlic and oil and white wine with a touch of marinara sauce.

There are 13 chicken dishes, among them grilled chicken balasamico, and the ever-popular chicken marsala, francese, parmigiana and scampi. Then there are lesser known taste-pleasers like Chicken Sorrentina, Scarpariello, San Remo and Rossini.

The veal entrees range from standards to Saltimbocca ala Romana. If it's seafood you like, try the baked stuffed flounder with crabmeat stuffing, salmon, flounder, broiled sea scallops seafood platter. For shrimp lovers, try shrimp scampi, marinara or francese.

If you are in the mood for something a little different, try the Braciole ala Colucci, which is rolled stuffed steak topped with meat sauce or the Tripe ala Fiorentina which has rosemary and onions with hot, medium or sweet sauce.

With their entree, diners receive a complimentary cup of soup, salad with choice of dressing, with the house Italian recommended because it's homemade. Diners also receive penne or linguine and potato or vegetable.

Desserts range from American or Italian cheesecake made fresh to tortoni, spumoni, tartuffo and tiramisu. There is also vanilla mousse Napoleon, stuffed crepe dipped in chocolate filled with maraschino cherries and chocolate mousse and imported oranges or lemons stuffed with sorbet. There are also standards like ice-cream and rice pudding.

They accept most major credit cards. Reservations are not required, but they're suggested for parties of five or more".
